get sound?
(1) Check that the audio plugin for your speakers is in the correct hole in the back or front of your computer. (2) Turn on speakers.(3) Check that sound levels are up by going to the righthand bottom of your Windows screen and right click speaker icon.
check for viruses?
(1) You'll need an anti-virus program and there are many out there. My favorite is MalwareBytes (click here) Use in conjunction with Microsoft Security Essentials to protect your computer. (click here) (2) Become familiar with the program. (3) Purchasing the product is usually better than using a free one as there is more live protection and viral updates. (4) Make sure you run your anti-virus scan every day. There is usually an automatic scan feature in most programs. (5) Don't use more than 2 anti-virus programs as this slows down your computer. (6) If random windows start unknowingly popping on your screen, unplug your Internet cable and exit these windows. Usually a virus will post a fake virus scan in progress and ask you to download a program to fix the problem. Don't do it. Restart your computer as soon as you are able and run your anti-virus program. If you do not have a program, download one as soon as you are able. If possible, keep a copy of it a removable storage device such as a flash drive or CD so you can install it.
